Two-Dimensional Layered Heterostructures of Nanoporous Carbons Using Reduced Graphene Oxide and Metal-Organic Frameworks

Nitish Kumar et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional layered carbon heterostructures with controlled porosity and high graphitic degree have attracted considerable attention. This study introduces a practical approach using reduced graphene oxide and metal-organic framework synergy to achieve 2D nanoporous highly graphitic carbons. These hybrid materials have shown a significant increase in capacitance compared to bare graphene oxide precursors, and the symmetric supercapacitor device exhibits high specific energy and specific power in an ionic liquid electrolyte.

Metal-Organic Frameworks for CO2 Separation from Flue and Biogas Mixtures

Rupam Sahoo et al.

Summary: Efforts have been made to separate CO2 from flue gas and biogas using nonthermal-based separations, such as adsorption-based or membrane-separation technology employing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). This review summarizes the strategies, performance parameters, and molecular-level mechanisms of such separations, and offers critical insights and future recommendations for further development of MOF materials as flue and biogas separators.

Progress and potential of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for gas storage and separation: A review

Tao Jia et al.

Summary: Gas storage and separation are crucial in the utilization of energy resources and the petrochemical industry. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging porous crystalline materials that can store energy-related gases with high density and separate target gases from hydrocarbon mixtures through host-guest interactions or sieving effects. This review summarizes recent advances in MOFs for hydrogen, methane, and acetylene storage, as well as carbon dioxide capture and light hydrocarbon separation, and discusses strategies for constructing efficient MOF adsorbents and material design.

On optimisation of N2 and CO2-selective hybrid membrane process systems for post-combustion CO2 capture from coal-fired power plants

Natsayi Chiwaye et al.

Summary: The study introduces a superstructure-based optimisation model for the CO2 capture process using N-2-selective and CO2-selective membranes. By automatically selecting membranes for each stage, a hybrid membrane CO2 capture process is achieved, leading to significant reduction in capture cost.

Comprehensive investigation of dynamic CO2 capture performance using Mg/DOBDC as precursor to fabricate a composite of metallic organic framework and graphene oxide

Junya Wang et al.

Summary: The study utilized Mg/DOBDC MOF as a precursor to fabricate a Mg/DOBDC MOF and GO composite, with a comprehensive investigation of its CO2 capture performance. The obtained Mg/DOBDC MOF@GO composite showed significantly improved CO2 uptake compared to the parent MOF. This research not only provides insights into synthesis and utilization of composites for CO2 capture, but also enhances understanding of adsorption kinetics and mechanisms for future guidance.

A performance comparison study of five single and sixteen blended amine absorbents for CO2 capture using ceramic hollow fiber membrane contactors

Edoardo Magnone et al.

Summary: This study aimed to establish the relationship between the CO2 absorption properties of five single amine-based absorbents and their sixteen binary mixtures for CO2 chemical absorption, using a hydrophobic modified ceramic hollow fiber membrane contactor. The study found that MEA and DEA have the highest CO2 absorption flux among single amine solutions, while replacing MDEA with 20 wt% DEA can significantly increase CO2 chemical absorption in blended amine-based absorbents. Additionally, aqueous MDEA blended with DEA showed a over 500% increase in CO2 absorption flux compared to single MDEA solution.
