Investigation of wound healing efficiency of multifunctional eudragit/soy protein isolate electrospun nanofiber incorporated with ZnO loaded halloysite nanotubes and allantoin

Farnaz Jaberifard et al.

Summary: One important aspect of wound healing involves the use of engineered nano polymeric scaffolds to mimic the properties of the extracellular matrix (ECM). In this study, Eudragit L100 nanofibers combined with soy protein isolate (SPI) were prepared and evaluated. Allantoin (Ala) was encapsulated as a model drug with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. ZnO-halloysite nanotubes (ZHNTs) were incorporated into the nanofibers as a reinforcing filler and antibacterial agent. The results showed that the nanofibers had good release kinetics, mechanical characteristics, and antimicrobial activity. The study suggests that these nanofibers could be promising potential wound dressings.

Investigating functional properties of halloysite nanotubes and propolis used in reinforced composite film based on soy protein/basil seed gum for food packaging application

Nasim Shahabi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) on the physicochemical characteristics of SPI/BSG films activated with propolis (PP). The addition of HNTs as nanofiller led to positive changes in the morphology, thermal stability, and mechanical characteristics of the films. The barrier properties of the films decreased with incorporation of HNTs. Furthermore, the encapsulation of PP significantly increased the antioxidant and antibacterial effects of the films.

Summary: A green protocol based on chitosan-silver nanoparticles was developed for ultrasensitive recognition of PSA using the ECL effect of luminol. The electrodeposition of AuNPs and CS-AgNPs-luminol on the glassy carbon electrode resulted in a transducing surface with low-cost preparation and ultrafast determination. The use of AgNPs as a linker and amplifier, along with the addition of AuNPs, led to the successful detection of PSA in unprocessed serum samples.
