Molecular docking, quorum quenching effect, antibiofilm activity and safety profile of silver-complexed sulfonamide on Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Fallon dos Santos Siqueira et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the anti-biofilm action and safety profile of a sulfamethoxazole-Ag complex, showing potential anti-biofilm activity through QS inhibition against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In silico tests demonstrated the compound acts on key regulators of biofilm formation in P. aeruginosa and was found to be safe for human peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

Synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of eugenol hybrids obtained by Mannich and 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition reactions

Komuraiah Buduma et al.

Summary: This study reported the design, synthesis, and bioactivity evaluation of novel mannich bases and triazole-chalcone derivatives of Eugenol. The synthesized compounds showed significant inhibition towards cancer cell lines, moderate to better inhibition towards MCF-7 cell lines, as well as potential antidiabetic, antiobesity, and antioxidant activities. In silico molecular docking and pharmacokinetic screening also supported the in vitro results, indicating the drug likeness of the active compounds.

Mycobacterial biofilms as players in human infections: a review

Esmeralda Ivonne Nino-Padilla et al.

Summary: Biofilms' role in mycobacterial infections and treatment strategies has been overlooked, but recent research has shown their significance in nontuberculous mycobacterial infections. Biofilms may facilitate chronic infection establishment, impacting the formation of biofilms by members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and their latent tuberculosis and drug resistance.
