Effect of MgO/Al2O3 and CaO/SiO2 on the Metallurgical Properties of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-TiO2 Slag

Guo-xing Qiu et al.

Summary: The melting performance and viscosities of CaO-SiO2-17.5wt.%Al2O3-MgO-2wt.%TiO2 slags were studied. The results showed that viscosity and the activation energy for viscous flow decreased with an increase of MgO/Al2O3, while they decreased with an increase of CaO/SiO2. The thermal stability of the slags was not significantly affected by CaO/SiO2. The optimal CaO/SiO2 and MgO/Al2O3 ratios were 1.24 and 0.37, respectively, which resulted in slags with good fluidity and stability.

Recovery of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag and diamond wire saw silicon powder waste by alloying and electromagnetic separation technique

Huazhen Gu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the possibility of metal thermal reduction of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag (TBFS) using the molecular interaction volume model (MIVM). The study focuses on the recovery of titanium (Ti) and silicon (Si) from TBFS and diamond wire saw silicon powder (DWSSP) waste using metal thermal reduction and electromagnetic separation technique. The results show that the addition of CaF2 improves the separation of the alloy from the slag. Si and TiSi2 are the main phases in the recovered alloy.

An approach to prepare high-purity TiSi2 for clean utilization of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag

Zhanchao Li et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new method for preparing high-purity TiSi2 using Ti-bearing blast furnace slag and low-purity Si. The results show that Si-Ti solvent refining significantly enhances the removal ratios of impurities. This study provides a new technical route for the green, efficient, and economical utilization of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag.

Corrosion behavior of carbon, Al2O3, and MgO refractories during the preparation of a Ti-Si-Al alloy via the aluminothermic reduction of a Ti-bearing blast-furnace slag

Yakun Zhang et al.

Summary: The study focused on investigating the corrosion behavior of refractories during the aluminothermic reduction of Ti-bearing blast-furnace slag (TBFS) and determining the most suitable refractories for this process. It was found that alumina and magnesia bricks were more effective in obtaining Ti-Si-Al alloy and reducing mass loss compared to carbon bricks. Additionally, the study revealed that the corrosion of alumina and magnesia bricks increased with the addition of CaO, with alumina bricks showing more severe corrosion compared to magnesia bricks. The highest extraction ratio of Ti (99.85%) was achieved when using magnesia bricks, making them the optimal refractory for the process.

A clean and efficient approach for recovery of vanadium and tungsten from spent SCR catalyst

Yijun Cao et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a clean, green, and economical method for the recovery of valuable metals and regeneration of spent SCR catalysts. The leaching process and mechanism were investigated, and the raw material and residue were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS, XPS, and Raman analysis to obtain ammonium paratungstate (APT) and vanadium pentoxide. The stable crystal structure of the leaching residue serves as a carrier for the regenerated catalyst, introducing a new perspective for the efficient and comprehensive usage of the spent SCR catalyst.

Preparation of high-purity TiSi2 and eutectic Si-Ti alloy by separation of Si-Ti alloy for clean utilization of Ti-bearing blast furnace slag

Zhanchao Li et al.

Summary: A new process was proposed to prepare high-purity Titanium disilicide and eutectic Si-Ti alloy using Ti-bearing blast furnace slag and low-purity Si. The obtained Si-Ti alloy was separated into TiSi2 and eutectic Si-Ti alloy by directional crystallization, with MgO crucibles found to have little influence on the purity of the products. This study provides a basis for the simultaneous preparation of TiSi2 and eutectic Si-Ti alloy materials from Ti-bearing blast furnace slag.
