Association of Peripheral Blood Cell Profile With Alzheimer's Disease: A Meta-Analysis

Le-Tian Huang et al.

Summary: Inflammation and immune dysfunction play significant roles in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD)-related dementia. Changes in peripheral blood cell profiles, particularly involving leukocyte, lymphocyte, neutrophil, and CD8(+) T cell counts, as well as the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the CD4/CD8 ratio, are closely associated with AD. The diagnostic relevance of these profiles should be investigated in future.

The Positive and Negative Immunoregulatory Role of B7 Family: Promising Novel Targets in Gastric Cancer Treatment

Nadia Bolandi et al.

Summary: Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of death globally, despite a stable reduction in its incidence. Poor response to common treatments and late diagnosis make it a lethal cancer. The emerging use of immunotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors has changed the landscape of treatment for gastric cancer patients, with the manipulation of signals from the B7 family showing significant potential in management.

Administration of anti-ERMAP antibody ameliorates Alzheimer's disease in mice

Haiyan Liu et al.

Summary: The study identifies erythroid membrane-associated protein (ERMAP) as a potential therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease (AD). By neutralizing ERMAP's T cell inhibitory activity and enhancing macrophage phagocytosis of Aβ, cognitive performance and Aβ plaque load in the brain of AD mice were improved.

The Regulatory Cross-Talk between microRNAs and Novel Members of the B7 Family in Human Diseases: A Scoping Review

Noora Karim Ahangar et al.

Summary: This study reviewed and discussed the regulatory cross-talk between microRNAs and new B7 family immune checkpoint molecules, identifying 27 articles that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The findings provide valuable insights into the pathogenesis of various human diseases through the interaction between miRs and B7 family molecules.

Peripheral and central immune system crosstalk in Alzheimer disease - a research prospectus

Brianne M. Bettcher et al.

Summary: The dysregulation of central and peripheral immune responses in Alzheimer's disease has raised questions about the communication between these systems and its potential as a therapeutic target. While evidence suggests the importance of peripheral-central immune crosstalk in AD, further research is needed to understand the mechanisms and implications for therapeutic interventions. This roadmap provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of research in this area and outlines a research prospectus for future interdisciplinary studies.
