Degenerative adversarial neuroimage nets for brain scan simulations: Application in ageing and dementia

Daniele Ravi et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel deep learning framework, 4D-DANI-Net, for generating high-resolution medical images to simulate neurodegeneration in elderly and dementia patients. Through extensive training and testing, it was found that 4D-DANI-Net produces personalized time series images that are more realistic and have lower artifacts compared to benchmark models.

FastSurferVINN: Building resolution-independence into deep learning segmentation methods-A solution for HighRes brain MRI

Leonie Henschel et al.

Summary: This study fills the gap in existing methods in the field of high-resolution MRI (HiRes) by proposing a Voxel-size Independent Neural Network (VINN) for resolution-independent image segmentation tasks. The FastSurferVINN method achieves whole brain segmentation within the resolution range of 0.7-1.0 mm and significantly outperforms existing methods at various resolutions. Additionally, this method addresses the data imbalance problem in HiRes datasets and has important application prospects.

Characterization of displacement forces and image artifacts in the presence of passive medical implants in low-field (<100 mT) permanent magnet-based MRI systems, and comparisons with clinical MRI systems

C. D. E. Van Speybroeck et al.

Summary: The study investigated the displacement forces and image artifacts associated with passive medical implants in low-field MRI systems (<100 mT) compared with higher field strengths. Results showed that displacement forces on all implants except the ferromagnetic one were between 1 and 10 mN at 50 mT, and image artifacts were much less at low-field compared to clinical field strengths. SAR simulations demonstrated that long echo train turbo spin echo sequences can be run within SAR limits under certain conditions.
