Eliminating the end effect of empirical mode decomposition using a cubic spline based method

Summary: This paper investigates how to restrict the end effect during the signal processing and proposes a new end condition method, CSBM, based on cubic spline theory. By covering the original signal and maintaining the shape of the signal in the intersection domain, CSBM generally outperforms the other two end condition methods in terms of limiting the end effect.

Summary: A novel TFA method called second-order synchroextracting wavelet transform (SSEWT) is proposed for characterizing nonstationary signals with widely changing instantaneous frequency features. This method extends the existing synchroextracting transform to the context of wavelet transform and introduces the second-order instantaneous frequency estimate to enhance its processing capability for nonstationary signals. The SSEWT provides concentrated time-frequency representation with multiple resolutions and maintains good invertibility.
