Non-contact full-field dynamic strain reconstruction of rotating blades under multi-mode vibration

Chunyan Ao et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method for reconstructing the full-field dynamic strain of rotating blades under multi-mode vibration. By measuring the displacement response using the blade tip timing (BTT) system, establishing a least-squares decoupling model, and deriving an analytical transform relationship between the tip displacement and full-field strain, the blade's full-field dynamic strain can be reconstructed in the time domain. The proposed method was validated through numerical simulations and spinning experiments, and the reconstructed strain showed good accuracy compared to strain measured by strain gauges (SGs). The method can provide valuable knowledge for predicting blade fatigue life and health monitoring.

Blade dynamic strain non-intrusive measurement using L1/2-norm regularization and transmissibility

Chunyan Ao et al.

Summary: Dynamic strain measurement is crucial for blade vibration monitoring, and the Blade Tip Time (BTT) technique is a promising alternative to traditional strain gauge measurement. This paper introduces the L1/2-DST method for dynamic strain reconstruction based on BTT, which accurately identifies blade vibration frequency and displacement with non-intrusive characteristics. Numerical simulations and spin experiments confirm the method's ability to achieve accurate dynamic strain reconstruction and robustness against noise.

Operational modal analysis of a rotating structure using image-based tracking continuously scanning laser Doppler vibrometry via a novel edge detection method

L. F. Lyu et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel edge detection method for tracking a rotating structure without the need for encoders or markers. The method utilizes image processing to determine the real-time positions of points on the edges of the rotating structure. Additionally, an improved demodulation method is used to estimate the modal parameters of the structure. Experimental investigation is conducted using a tracking CSLDV system to track and scan a rotating fan blade, and the modal parameters are successfully estimated.

Full-field mode shape estimation of a rotating structure subject to random excitation using a tracking continuously scanning laser Doppler vibrometer via a two-dimensional scan scheme

L. F. Lyu et al.

Summary: A two-dimensional scan scheme is proposed for a tracking laser Doppler vibrometer system to scan the entire surface of a rotating structure under random excitation. The measured response is processed using an operational modal analysis method to estimate the modal parameters of the rotating structure. Experimental results show that the damped natural frequencies of the rotating structure increase with its rotation speed.
