Theoretical Examination of the Radiation Protecting Properties of CaTiO3 Material Sintered at Different Temperatures

Essia Hannachi et al.

Summary: This research aims to study the radiation-protecting characteristics of calcium titanate (CaTiO3) perovskite-based ceramic material. The ceramics were prepared using the solid-state reaction method and treated at different temperatures. XRD and FT-IR analysis revealed a CaTiO3 phase formation with an orthorhombic structure. The size of the crystallites increased with rising temperatures, and the relative density also showed an increase. Monte Carlo simulation was used to assess the impact of temperature on the radiation-protecting characteristics, showing a decrease in gamma-photons average track length and an increase in the linear attenuation coefficient with temperature rise.

Attenuation parameters of HDPE filled with different nano-size and bulk WO3 for X-ray shielding applications

Amro Obeid et al.

Summary: High-density polyethylene (HDPE)/tungsten trioxide (WO3) composites were prepared using a compression molding technique, and the effect of filler weight fractions and nanoparticle sizes on radiation attenuation ability was studied. The results showed that WO3 nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix at low filler weight fractions. Compared to pure lead, HDPE/WO3 composites exhibited excellent performance in terms of half-value layer thickness and attenuation parameters.

Summary: This experimental study investigates the radiation shielding characteristics of SrTiO3 ceramic doped with various amounts of WO3 nanoparticles. Results show that increasing WO3 content improves the shielding efficiency of the ceramic materials. Experimental determination of parameters such as linear attenuation coefficient reveals that the half-value layer increases with higher WO3 content in the ceramics.

Structure, optical properties, and ionizing radiation shielding performance using Monte Carlo simulation for lead-free BTO perovskite ceramics doped with ZnO, SiO2, and WO3 oxides

E. Hannachi et al.

Summary: This study reports the influence of different oxide doping on the structure, optical characteristics, and radiation protecting performances of perovskite BaTiO3 ceramic. Doping with ZnO and WO3 enhances the density and shielding capacity of the ceramic, while doping with SiO2 reduces the density and shielding capacity. The doping also affects the crystal structure and optical properties of the ceramic.

Summary: The research focused on studying the structure and radiation shielding performances of YBCO-123 ceramics doped with different oxides. The different ceramics were found to crystallize into an orthorhombic structure with Pmmm symmetry. Through Monte Carlo simulation, it was discovered that the doping oxides disturbed the orthorhombic crystal structure of YBCO-123 and affected their radiation shielding capabilities.

Summary: In this study, a Li2O-K2O-B2O3-PbO glass system was synthesized using the melt quenching technique, with indirect bandgap energies obtained from UV-visible spectra. It was confirmed that with an increase in PbO concentration, the indirect bandgap energies increase, while the refractive index and optical dielectric constant decrease. Additionally, the reflection loss and optical transmission coefficient of the glasses show an opposite trend with PbO content.
