Photocatalytic degradation of azo dyes by ultra-small green synthesized silver nanoparticles

Sayra Bustos-Guadarrama et al.

Summary: The degradation of commercial azo dyes using ultrasmall silver nanoparticles as a photocatalyst was studied in this research. For the first time, the successful green synthesis of these nanoparticles using the extract of Pelargonium hortorum or Allium fistulosum as reducing-stabilizing agents was reported. The synthesized nanoparticles showed an inverse relationship between their size and photocatalytic efficiency.

Design of sculptured SnS/g-C3N4 photocatalytic nanostructure for highly efficient and selective CO2 conversion to methane

Hossam A. E. Omr et al.

Summary: Here, we present SnS/g-C3N4 crystallized and nanostructured photocatalysts for efficient and selective CO2 conversion to CH4. By engineered thermal evaporation and decoration of g-C3N4 through a simple dipping method, the limitations of bulk SnS-based photocatalysts are overcome. The SnS/g-C3N4 nanostructured photocatalysts achieve a superior methane production rate of 387.5 μmol m-2 h-1 (c.a. 122.33 μmol g-1 h-1) with an apparent quantum yield of c.a. 9.7% at 520 nm with engineered lengths. Moreover, they show 100% selective production toward CH4 and stable operation for over 10 hours.

Tunable bismuth doping/loading endows NaTaO3 nanosheet highly selective photothermal reduction of CO2

Mengmeng Zhang et al.

Summary: Photothermal CO2 reduction with H2O, combining the advantages of photocatalysis driven H2O splitting and thermal catalysis promoted CO2 reduction, has attracted increasing attention in the synthesis of solar fuels. In this study, bismuth nanoparticles with low thermal conductivity were used as the photothermal unit, and bismuth doped NaTaO3 was used as the photocatalytic unit. The NaTaO3:Bi hybrid showed high photothermal catalytic performance due to the photothermal effect, thermal insulation by bismuth metal, and lattice oxygen activation by bismuth doping.
