Mn doped Prussian blue nanoparticles for T1/T2 MR imaging, PA imaging and Fenton reaction enhanced mild temperature photothermal therapy of tumor

Quan Tao et al.

Summary: This study prepared innovative Mn-doped Prussian blue nanoparticles (MnPB NPs) via a microemulsion method. MnPB NPs demonstrated excellent T-1 and T-2 weighted MRI enhancement and strong absorbance in the near infrared range, making them suitable for photothermal therapy and photoacoustics imaging in tumor treatment. Moreover, MnPB NPs showed excellent chemodynamic therapy activity. Overall, MnPB NPs have positive effectiveness in integrating tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Mn(II) Acceleration of the Picolinic Acid-Assisted Fenton Reaction: New Insight into the Role of Manganese in Homogeneous Fenton AOPs

Zhichao Yang et al.

Summary: Mn(II) was found to accelerate the Fenton reaction by participating directly and catalytically in the Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox cycle in the presence of picolinic acid (PICA) as an assisting agent. Mn(II) accelerated Fe(III) reduction, superoxide radical formation, and hydroxyl radical formation, but the proposed Mn(II/III)-H2O2 redox cycle was shown to be insignificant. Instead, Mn(II) initially complexes with a ferric hydroperoxo species, followed by intramolecular electron transfer to give Fe(II) and MnO2+. This scheme can be applied to other Fenton-type systems. These findings will be valuable for the design of practical and sustainable Fenton-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) using Mn(II) in combination with chelating agents.

Photo-Fenton degradation of sulfamethoxazole using MIL-53(Fe) under UVA LED irradiation and natural sunlight

Gabriela A. Ortega-Moreno et al.

Summary: The MOF MIL-53(Fe) was successfully synthesized, activated, and evaluated as a catalyst in the photo-Fenton reactions for degrading sulfamethoxazole (SMX) using UVA LED irradiation and natural sunlight. The study found that the use of MIL-53(Fe) as a heterogeneous catalyst enabled the degradation of 96% of SMX in 120 minutes under near-neutral conditions, achieving a removal of 30% of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). The leached iron concentration was within the quality standard for drinking water. The efficiency and stability of the catalyst after multiple cycles make it a potential candidate for alternative water purification systems based on the photo-Fenton process.

Green route to Prussian blue nanoparticles with high degradation efficiency of RhB under visible light

Jiao Yang et al.

Summary: The study synthesized Prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) using beta-cyclodextrin and ethyl alcohol, and found that PB-120 exhibited a specific surface area of 90.527 m(2)g(-1) and showed high catalytic efficiency in degrading Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light in a neutral system. PBNPs may serve as excellent catalysts for degrading organic pollution.
