Controlled growth of perovskite layers with volatile alkylammonium chlorides

Jaewang Park et al.

Summary: Controlling the crystallinity and surface morphology of perovskite layers is crucial for achieving high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. By adding alkylammonium chlorides (RACl) to a-formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI(3)), the crystallization process and surface morphology of the perovskite thin films can be controlled. The resulting perovskite thin layers facilitate the fabrication of perovskite solar cells with a high power-conversion efficiency of 26.08%.

Oxygen Vacancy Management for High-Temperature Mesoporous SnO2 Electron Transport Layers in Printable Perovskite Solar Cells

Jiale Liu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of magnesium (Mg) to manage oxygen vacancies (OVs) and achieve efficient printable perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a high-temperature mesoporous SnO2 electron transport layer (ETL). The high-temperature annealing process reduces self-doping of SnO2 by reducing OVs, while the introduced Mg promotes OV formation. The synergistic effect of Mg on OVs increases carrier density and raises the Fermi level energy of the mp-SnO2 ETL, resulting in a significant improvement in device performance.

Coffee ring controlment in spray prepared >19% efficiency Cs0.19FA0.81PbI2.5Br0.5 perovskite solar cells

Xinxin Yu et al.

Summary: This study successfully controls the coffee ring effect in spraying technology by using a reaction-dependent regulating strategy, resulting in high-quality perovskite films for solar cells. The use of n-butyl alcohol as a solvent during spraying process effectively inhibits coffee ring effect and improves the performance of perovskite solar cells. This approach provides a reliable method for achieving high repeatability devices with good performance.

Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells Based on Tin Oxide Nanocrystals with Difunctional Modification

Jiahao Xi et al.

Summary: In this study, an effective method to achieve a low trap density and high electron mobility electron transport layer (ETL) based on SnO2 nanocrystals is proposed. The addition of potassium trifluoroacetate (KTFA) is able to passivate the oxygen vacancies in SnO2 nanocrystals, reducing traps and boosting electron collection. Furthermore, surface modification shifts the conduction band of SnO2 nanocrystals close to that of perovskite, facilitating electron transfer. As a result, the perovskite solar cells exhibit high efficiency and negligible hysteresis.

Pre-annealing treatment for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells via sequential deposition

Haibing Wang et al.

Summary: Grain boundaries in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are vulnerable to degradation, but repairing these boundaries is challenging. A pre-annealing treatment can reconstruct the crystallites and grain boundaries, resulting in robust boundaries and improved efficiency and light stability in PSCs.

Intact 2D/3D halide junction perovskite solar cells via solid-phase in-plane growth

Yeoun-Woo Jang et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a solid-phase method to grow phase-pure two-dimensional perovskites in perovskite solar cells, enhancing device efficiency and stability. By growing a stable two-dimensional film on top of a three-dimensional film using a solvent-free method, an intact 2D/3D heterojunction is formed, resulting in high photovoltage in the device.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Role of oxygen vacancy in metal oxide based photoelectrochemical water splitting

Zhiliang Wang et al.

Summary: Oxygen vacancies play a crucial role in the optimization of photoelectrodes for PEC water splitting, affecting light absorption, charge separation, and surface reaction kinetics. Although the presence of oxygen vacancies may increase recombination, recent research has shown their beneficial impact on PEC performance, contrary to previous understanding. A comprehensive analysis of oxygen vacancies in metal oxide photoelectrodes is essential for achieving high efficiency in PEC.
