Biaxial strain-modulated electronic and optical properties of transition metals doped-WSe2 monolayer

S. Chowdhury et al.

Summary: We investigate the effects of biaxial strain on the electronic and optical properties of TM-doped WSe2 monolayers using DFT calculations. The TM dopants (Nb, Ta, and Re) significantly modify the electronic bandgap and optical responses of WSe2. Strain-induced shifts in absorption edge and changes in the near-infrared to red-visible regions are observed. Understanding the behavior of strained TM-doped WSe2 monolayers is crucial for their application in optoelectronic devices.

Strain-dependent doping and optical absorption in Al-doped graphene-like ZnO monolayer

S. Chowdhury et al.

Summary: In this study, strain-dependent doping and optical absorption in Aluminum (Al)-doped graphene-like ZnO (g-AZO) monolayer were investigated using hybrid-Density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The impact of biaxial strain (epsilon xy) on the dopant formation energy (Eform), electronic structure, and optical absorption of g-AZO monolayer were examined. The results showed that there was a linear increase in Eform with epsilon xy up to +5%, followed by an inverse sharp parabolic relationship with tensile strain. The study also revealed the highest doping concentration of Al dopants in the g-ZnO monolayer at epsilon xy = +10%.

Surface Modification of AlGaN Solar-Blind Ultraviolet MSM Photodetectors With Octadecanethiol

Guofeng Yang et al.

Summary: The study successfully fabricated AlGaN solarblind ultraviolet metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors with high Al composition and proposed an effective method by modifying organic molecules on the AlGaN surface to enhance the optoelectronic performance. The ODT-modified AlGaN PD exhibited improved cutoff wavelength and peak responsivity compared to the referential PD without modification.

Tunable electronic structure in twisted WTe2/WSe2 heterojunction bilayer

Zi-Si Chen et al.

Summary: The electronic structures of non-twisted and twisted WTe2/WSe2 heterojunction bilayers were investigated using first-principles calculations. It was found that the twisted bilayers exhibit direct and indirect bandgaps, and the bandgap size is strongly dependent on the twist angle.

Effect of C44H30N4O4 Surface Modification on the Performance of Al0.6Ga0.4N MSM Photodetectors

Feng Xie et al.

Summary: A surface modification method has been proposed for AlGaN to enhance the performance of AlGaN MSM solar-blind UV photodetectors. The method involves chemically adsorbing organic molecules on the surface of the PD to reduce interface potential caused by material defects and increase the photogenerated carriers. The modification significantly increases the photocurrent and responsivity of the PD, improving the optoelectronic performances of III-nitride-based PDs.
