Ultrahigh-power supercapacitors from commercial activated carbon enabled by compositing with carbon nanomaterials

Summary: In this study, high-rate nanocomposite electrodes and ultrahigh-power supercapacitors were developed by compositing a highly dense commercial activated carbon with carbon nanomaterials. The optimized quaternary nanocomposite electrode exhibited enhanced electron transport, ion diffusion, and a twofold higher rate capability, power density, and high-rate cycling stability compared to conventional activated carbon. This research presents a novel approach to fabricate low-cost, commercially available materials into practically useful ultrahigh-power supercapacitors with important application potential.

Facile growth of hierarchical SnO2@PPy composites on carbon cloth as all-solid-state flexible supercapacitors

Summary: In this work, a novel nanostructure of SnO2@polypyrrole (PPy) is grown on carbon cloth (CC) using a facile solvothermal method and subsequent chemical oxidative polymerization process. Moreover, all solid state flexible supercapacitors (FSCs) constructed with SnO2@PPy/CC electrodes and polyvinyl alcohol-potassium hydroxide gel electrolyte demonstrate high energy density, superior stability, and mechanical flexibility.

MWCNT/Ruthenium hydroxide aerogel supercapacitor production and investigation of electrochemical performances

Summary: In this study, an aerogel was prepared by sonication of double-walled carbon nanotube and ruthenium chloride, and used to fabricate symmetrical supercapacitor devices for investigating their electrochemical properties. The highest specific capacitance of 423 F/g was achieved for MWCNT/Ruthenium hydroxide aerogels at a scan rate of 5 mV/s. The calculated values from the charge-discharge curves also showed different specific capacitance at different current densities.

Insight into the Origin of the Rapid Charging Ability of Graphene-Like Graphite as a Lithium-Ion Battery Anode Material Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

Summary: Graphene-like graphite (GLG) has rapid charging ability and can be charged at low potential without lithium deposition. This study quantitatively evaluated the charge-transfer resistance and diffusion resistance of GLG and found that the lithium-ion diffusion coefficient in GLG is several orders higher than that of graphite, mainly due to the presence of pores in GLG. This finding is important for studying and improving the charging performance of GLG.
