Chemiresistive Polymer Percolation Network Gas Sensor Created with a Nanosphere Template

Weishuo Li et al.

Summary: The sensitivity and limits of detection of chemiresistive gas sensors can be improved by increasing the surface area of the sensing material. Nanostructured polypyrrole sensors for ammonia detection were created using a nanosphere template. The sensors showed higher sensitivity and lower LOD compared to sensors prepared without nanosphere templates. An optimal nanostructured ammonia sensor was obtained with a sensitivity of 2.59 +/- 0.20% ppm(-1) and a LOD of 71 +/- 6 ppb.

Essential role of electrode materials in ethylene and acetylene sensing selectivity for LaFeO3 based gas sensors

Abdulaziz A. Alharbi et al.

Summary: The research discovered that the nature of electrode materials impacts sensor performance, with platinum electrodes showing good responses to both ethylene and acetylene at 150 degrees Celsius, while gold electrodes only showed a good response to acetylene. Regardless of the electrode material, the surface reaction responsible for sensor signals occurs for acetylene, with platinum required for the reaction to occur in the case of ethylene.

Interplay of electrode geometry and bias on charge transport in organic heterojunction gas sensors

Abhishek Kumar et al.

Summary: Modulating charge transport in an organic heterojunction sensor enhances its gas sensing properties. In this study, a heterostructure consisting of perfluorinated copper phthalocyanine and lutetium bis-phthalocyanine is investigated for ammonia sensor development. The heterostructure exhibits different charge transport behavior depending on electrode geometry and applied bias. Notably, using small gap electrodes significantly improves charge transport and enhances the ammonia sensing properties of the sensor. The sensor demonstrates high sensitivity and stability at different relative humidity levels, making it suitable for real-world ammonia detection applications.
