Modification of a Z-scheme ZnO-CuO nanocomposite by Ag loading as a highly efficient visible light photocatalyst

Summary: This study conducted a comparative analysis of ZnO-CuO and ZnO-CuO-Ag nanocomposites from the perspective of characterization and photodegradation mechanism. The results showed that the ZnO-7.5 mol.%CuO nanocomposite with 5 mol.% Ag loading exhibited almost complete photodegradation efficiency toward methylene blue under visible light irradiation. The study also proposed a Z-scheme mechanism for charge transfer and identified superoxide radicals as the main active species involved in photocatalytic reactions.

Type-II band alignment in CNT-modified SrTiO3-Fe2TiO5 heterostructure nanocomposite for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes

Summary: In this study, a carbon nanotube-modified SrTiO3/Fe2TiO5 nanocomposite was synthesized using a co-precipitation method, and its photocatalytic performance was evaluated. The results showed that the composite had smaller particle size, lower band gap energy, and larger surface area, and effectively formed a charge transfer mechanism. Additionally, compared to pure SrTiO3 and binary SrTiO3/Fe2TiO5 nanocomposite, the ternary SrTiO3/Fe2TiO5/CNT nanocomposite exhibited higher charge transfer efficiency and excellent photocatalytic activity.

Photocatalytic activity enhancement by composition control of mechano-thermally synthesized BiVO4-Cu2O nanocomposite

Photocatalytic performance of coupled semiconductor ZnO-CuO nanocomposite coating prepared by a facile brass anodization process

The enhanced photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanorods/CuO nanourchins composite prepared by chemical bath precipitation

Summary: ZnO nanorods (NRs) and CuO nanourchins (NUs) were combined to achieve the highest efficiency in methylene blue (MB) degradation. The nanocomposites showed improved interconnectivity and increased lifetime of photo-excited charge carriers with the addition of CuO NUs. The highest efficiency in MB degradation was achieved by the ZnO/(10 mol%)CuO nanocomposite, with a band gap energy of 2.9 eV and pore volume of 0.0180 cm3/g.
