Summary: Cu2+-loaded phase-transited lysozyme nanofilm deposited on bacterial cellulose (BC/PTL/Cu) showed promising effects in healing infected wounds by inhibiting bacterial growth and inflammation, while promoting vascularization, collagen deposition, and re-epithelialization. BC/PTL/Cu exhibited good antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and was non-cytotoxic to mouse fibroblast cell line L929.

Bioactive bacterial cellulose wound dressings for burns with collagen in-situ and chitosan ex-situ impregnation

Summary: Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a biopolymer commonly used as wound dressing due to its high biocompatibility. Chitosan and collagen can be impregnated into BC fibers to optimize its properties. The BC-based wound dressing showed good intermolecular interactions and penetration of chitosan and collagen, as confirmed by FTIR and SEM. Other tests demonstrated the non-hemolytic nature and effectiveness of the wound dressing. In-vivo test showed that BC/collagen/chitosan wound dressing supported wound healing in second degree burns.

Evaluation of porous bacterial cellulose produced from foam templating with different additives and its application in 3D cell culture

The BC produced in the modified media had long fibrils with diameters less than 70 nm, and the crystallinity index was higher in the specimen produced in MHS1 medium containing peptone compared to that in MHS2.

Results indicated that TiO(2)NPs prepared using BC had unique properties compared to those prepared by the sol-gel method.
