A review of recent innovative strategies for controlling mycotoxins in foods

Gamal M. Hamad et al.

Summary: Mycotoxin contamination is a significant threat to food safety and quality, and conventional methods for detoxification face challenges. Innovative strategies such as cold atmospheric plasma, polyphenols and flavonoids, magnetic materials and nanoparticles, and natural essential oils show promising potential for mycotoxin control. However, complete decontamination has not been achieved, and integrated management systems combining multiple strategies may be explored for higher efficiency and adaptability.

Microbial detoxification of mycotoxins in food and feed

Hongwen Xu et al.

Summary: Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by fungi in food or feed that can be toxic to both humans and animals. Traditional methods for detoxification have limitations, leading to an urgent need for new technologies to effectively control mycotoxins. Microbial detoxification technology has been widely used in recent years due to its high efficiency, low toxicity, and strong specificity.

Rhodococcus as Biofactories for Microbial Oil Production

Hector M. Alvarez et al.

Summary: Bacteria belonging to the Rhodococcus genus have the ability to produce significant amounts of triacylglycerols (TAG) and can be considered as oleaginous microorganisms. They possess specific physiological properties and molecular mechanisms that differentiate them from other microorganisms. These bacteria can degrade a wide range of carbon sources and utilize industrial wastes for oil production. Studying genetic and metabolic approaches can help improve their ability to produce fatty acids.
