Investigation of the structural, photoluminescence properties, bioactivity and 5-fluorouracil delivery behavior of Dy3+and Dy:Eu3+-doped bioactive glasses

Aylin M. Deliormanli et al.

Summary: Nowadays fluorescent biomaterials have gained significant attention in biomedical research. In this study, Dy3+ and Dy:Eu3+ co-doped bioactive glass powders were synthesized and characterized. The structural, morphological, and photoluminescence properties of the powders were investigated in detail. In vitro experiments showed that the incorporation of Dy3+ enhanced hydroxyapatite deposition, while Dy:Eu3+ co-doping slightly decreased the bioactivity. Drug-loaded bioactive glass powders exhibited sustained drug release behavior. The findings of this study are valuable for understanding the degradation, hydroxyapatite conversion, and drug delivery of bioactive glasses.

Comparative study of Dy3+ doped borate glasses on the basis of luminescence and lasing properties for white-light generation

F. Zaman et al.

Summary: This work presents a comparative study of Dy3+ activated NMgBiBDy and NBaBiBDy glasses, focusing on their luminescence and lasing properties for white-light generation application. It is found that NMgBiBDy1.0 glass exhibits superior performance compared to NBaBiBDy1.0, making it promising for laser and white-light generation.
