Petrochronology of high-pressure granulite facies rocks from Southern Brasilia Orogen, SE Brazil: Combining quantitative compositional mapping, single-element thermometry and geochronology

Regiane Andrade Fumes et al.

Summary: By using a combination of in situ techniques, the study assesses the P-T-t path of high-pressure granulites from the Southern Brasilia Orogen. The results provide insights into the crystallization conditions and metamorphic history, indicating peak pressure occurred around 635 Ma with later retrograde conditions and cooling stages.

Archean-Ediacaran evolution of the Campos Gerais Domain-A reworked margin of the S?o Francisco paleocontinent (SE Brazil): Constraints from metamafic-ultramafic rocks

Marco Aurelio Piacentini Pinheiro et al.

Summary: The Campos Gerais Domain in southeastern Brazil has a long history of crustal evolution that is shared with the Sao Francisco Craton. The rocks in this area have similar characteristics to other Archean greenstone belts worldwide and are associated with tonalite-trondhjemite-grano diorite gneisses. The study reveals previously unrecognized Archean magmatism and provides evidence for a magmatic event correlated with the Minas Orogeny. The U-Pb geochronology data also suggest a late metamorphic overprint related to the assembly of Gondwana.

The role of deformation-assisted by water influx on partial melting of a granite protolith, and its role in the evolution of southwestern Sao Francisco Craton margin, Brazil

Eduardo Lopes Juliao et al.

Summary: The Areado Granite-Migmatite Unit in southern Brazil is composed of garnet meta-syenogranite, hornblende-garnet metatexite, and stromatic diatexite with varying degrees of partial melting. Through field observations and various analytical methods, researchers investigated the connections between different rock types, deformation patterns, and partial melting ages. The findings suggest a complex geological history involving multiple metamorphic and partial melting events that have shaped the rocks in the region.
