Aerobic exercise for eight weeks provides protective effects towards liver and cardiometabolic health and adipose tissue remodeling under metabolic stress for one week: A study in mice

Youn Ju Kim et al.

Summary: Exercise training has positive effects on metabolic health, helping to counteract weight gain, fatty liver, and insulin resistance. This may be attributed to its ability to enhance the browning of white fat, whole-body oxygen uptake, and heat generation.

Strength training alters the tissue fatty acids profile and slightly improves the thermogenic pathway in the adipose tissue of obese mice

Diego Gomes de Melo et al.

Summary: Short-term strength training was shown to decrease fatty acid levels and lipogenesis enzyme expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue (sWAT) of obese mice. Additionally, it increased the expression of browning-related genes. These effects were observed independently of changes in body weight.

Summary: This article reviews the characteristics of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and discusses the mechanisms that contribute to their pathological adaptations to the tumor microenvironment. TAMs play a crucial role in the tumor microenvironment and are closely associated with cancer progression.

EGFR-mediated activation of adipose tissue macrophages promotes obesity and insulin resistance

Shirong Cao et al.

Summary: Obesity and related health complications are on the rise. Chronic inflammation in adipose tissue from obese individuals leads to insulin resistance. Adipose tissue macrophages (ATMs) play a role in aggravating adipocyte dysfunction through the release of proinflammatory cytokines. Activation of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in ATMs is shown to contribute to the development of obesity and insulin resistance. Selective deletion of EGFR in ATMs inhibits resident ATM proliferation and monocyte infiltration into adipose tissue, resulting in reduced obesity and prevention of insulin resistance.

Stem cell-based therapy for human diseases

Duc M. Hoang et al.

Summary: Recent advancements in stem cell technology have provided new treatment options for patients with untreatable diseases and disorders. Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) and multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have emerged as important players in regenerative medicine. Clinical applications of hPSCs and MSCs derived from different tissues, such as bone marrow, adipose tissue, and umbilical cord, have shown promising results in treating neurological disorders, pulmonary dysfunctions, metabolic/endocrine-related diseases, reproductive disorders, skin burns, and cardiovascular conditions. The mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of these stem cells vary depending on their tissue origin.

Taurine supplementation associated with exercise increases mitochondrial activity and fatty acid oxidation gene expression in the subcutaneous white adipose tissue of obese women

Flavia Giolo De Carvalho et al.

Summary: The study findings suggest that taurine supplementation combined with exercise has beneficial effects on lipid metabolism in obese women, improving it through modulation of genes related to mitochondrial activity and fatty acid oxidation, leading to a browning effect in subcutaneous white adipose tissue.

Physiological Changes and Pathological Pain Associated with Sedentary Lifestyle-Induced Body Systems Fat Accumulation and Their Modulation by Physical Exercise

Enrique Verdu et al.

Summary: A sedentary lifestyle is linked to obesity, which involves excessive fat accumulation triggering structural and functional changes in tissues, organs, and body systems, leading to various health issues. Physical exercise may help reverse some of these pathological changes associated with obesity by modulating the communication between adipose tissue and body systems.

The Role of Exercise, Diet, and Cytokines in Preventing Obesity and Improving Adipose Tissue

Muhammed Mustafa Atakan et al.

Summary: Calorie restriction, regular exercise, or a combination of the two are accepted as effective strategies in preventing or treating obesity. The benefits of exercise in combating obesity are not only attributed to reducing adiposity but also to releasing proteins, peptides, enzymes, and metabolites that are beneficial for overall health.
