Highly efficient electrooxidation of ethanol on CuPtPd trimetallic catalyst

Summary: Cu-Pt-Pd ternary alloy catalysts were prepared by electrochemical deposition method. The morphology and elemental composition were characterized by ACTEM and XPS, revealing the uniform distribution of hollow nanospheres on the catalyst surface. Cu-Pt1Pd3.2 showed significantly higher peak current density and mass activity for EOR compared to commercial Pt/C catalysts, and also exhibited excellent CO toxicity resistance. The strong interaction and synergistic effect among Cu, Pt and Pd contributed to the enhanced electro-catalytic activity.

Self-standing foam-like Pd-based alloys nanostructures for efficient electrocatalytic ethanol oxidation

Summary: In this work, self-standing binary porous PdM (M = Ni, Fe and Co) foam-like nanostructures are designed using a rapid and one-step aqueous-solution method. Among the tested nanostructures, PdNi showed superior alkaline ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR) activity and stability compared to PdFe, PdCo, and commercial Pd/C catalysts. The study reveals that the low synergism in porous PdM nanocrystals benefits the EOR activity, suggesting the possibility of designing other binary Pd-based alloys for various electrocatalytic reactions.

Summary: This study compares the electrocatalytic ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR) performance of Pd nanocrystals with different morphologies in acidic (H2SO4), alkaline (KOH), and neutral (NaHCO3) electrolytes. The results show that porous self-standing Pd clustered nanospheres (Pd-CNSs) have significantly higher EOR activity than Pd nanocubes (Pd-NCBs) and commercial Pd/C catalysts, especially in KOH electrolyte.

Assembly of Alloyed PdCu Nanosheets and Their Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Ethanol

Summary: Two-dimensional PdCu nanosheet assemblies (NSAs) were synthesized and used as electrocatalysts for direct ethanol fuel cells. PdCu NSA1 exhibited excellent catalytic activity and cyclic stability compared to PdCu NSA2, PdCu NSA3, and commercial Pd/C. Kinetics studies suggested that PdCu NSAs are more favorable at higher catalytic temperatures, higher ethanol concentrations, and low pH value environments.

PtCuFe alloy nanochains: Synthesis and composition-performance relationship in methanol oxidation and hydrogen evolution reactions

Summary: This study successfully synthesized tunable PtCuFe alloy nanochains by adjusting the molar ratios of metal precursors. These nanochains exhibited higher catalytic activity and stability compared to Pt nanoparticles, PtFe nanoparticles, and PtCu nanochains. Additionally, it was found that 1D PtCuFe nanochains showed the highest activity for the methanol oxidation reaction. This work establishes a foundation for the controllable synthesis of multi-metal Pt-based nanochains/alloy catalysts and their applications in other electro-catalytic reactions.
