LAMMPS-a flexible simulation tool for particle-based materials modeling at the atomic, meso, and continuum scales

Aidan P. Thompson et al.

Summary: LAMMPS, a classical molecular dynamics simulator released as an open source code in 2004, has gained popularity for its wide variety of particle interaction models, platform compatibility, and user control over simulation details. With contributions from numerous developers, it has grown from 50,000 lines of code to a million today, showcasing new capabilities like dynamic load balancing and quantum-accuracy machine learning interatomic potentials.

Molecular simulation of hopping mechanisms of nanoparticles in regular cross-linked polymer networks

Bo-Ran Zhao et al.

Summary: Coarse-grained simulations were used to investigate the diffusion mechanism of nanoparticles in regular cross-linked polymer networks. The diffusivities of nanoparticles showed a non-monotonic trend at different nanoparticle-polymer interactions due to intermittent hopping. Small nanoparticles preferred to move from cell centers to corners as their interactions with the network increased, while steric hindrance limited the hopping of large nanoparticles. The interactions between nanoparticles and the network affected both network deformability and nanoparticle hopping.

Zeolite beta in situ encapsulation of indole and its derivatives as controlled release formulations for antibacterial

Qiqing Tan et al.

Summary: In this study, indole and its derivatives were successfully incorporated into zeolite beta through in situ encapsulation approach for the first time to overcome drawbacks of traditional impregnation and ion-exchange methods. The structure of indole@beta complexes was well characterized, showing slower release rate, pH sensitivity, and temperature dependence compared to indole/beta complexes. The release behavior was described by ritger-peppas model to obey the Fick's Laws of diffusion, and indole@beta coating exhibited more sustainable and effective antibacterial activity.

Understanding the Fundamentals of Microporosity Upgrading in Zeolites: Increasing Diffusion and Catalytic Performances

Zhengxing Qin et al.

Summary: Hierarchical zeolites with upgraded microporosity enhance catalytic performance by facilitating intracrystalline molecular traffic. The formation of mesopores in zeolites starts by removing framework T atoms and propagating throughout the crystals. A new diffusion pathway for xenon in mesoporous zeolites has been proposed.
