One-Pot Synthesis of a Magnetic TiO2/PTh/γ-Fe2O3 Heterojunction Nanocomposite for Removing Trace Arsenite via Simultaneous Photocatalytic Oxidation and Adsorption

Xuemei Liu et al.

Summary: The novel magnetic TiO2/PTh/gamma-Fe2O3 heterojunction nanocomposite showed excellent stability in adsorbing As(III) in a low-pH region (2-6). Under visible light illumination, more than 99.1% of As(III) was transformed into As(V) and simultaneously 90.1% of produced As(V) was adsorbed by the nanocomposite. Photogenerated holes (h(+)) and superoxide free radicals (center dot O-2(-)) were the main reactive substances for visible-light-driven photocatalytic oxidation of As(III) on the TiO2/PTh/gamma-Fe2O3 nanoparticle.

Green Synthesis of Luminescent Gold-Zinc Oxide Nanocomposites: Cell Imaging and Visible Light-Induced Dye Degradation

Kanika Bharti et al.

Summary: In this study, a green synthesis of gold-zinc oxide (Au-ZnO) nanocomposite was achieved under organic solvent-free conditions at room temperature, resulting in crystalline ZnO phase and luminescence properties. Gold nanoparticles were embedded on the surface through the reduction of Au(III) in the presence of Zn(0) powder. Investigations on reaction time and reagent concentrations allowed for control of the Au:Zn ratio within the nanocomposites, leading to the formation of Au-ZnO/Zn(OH)(2) nanocomposites.
