A study on cooling performance of surface-modified TBC-film cooling system with bio-inspired micro-riblets

Zewei Meng et al.

Summary: The study introduced micro-riblets for surface modifications of TBC-film cooling system, showing significant improvement in cooling performance especially under adiabatic wall conditions. The results also demonstrated that the micro-riblet structure could effectively reduce the surface temperature of the model with a maximum cooling amplitude of about 50K-60K. Additionally, the cooling performance increased first and then decreased as the thickness of the micro-riblet increased, suggesting an optimal height for optimum cooling performance.

Numerical study on the influence of coolant temperature, pressure, and thermal barrier coating thickness on heat transfer in high-pressure blades

Duy-Tan Vo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of thermal barrier coating thickness and coolant on the heat transfer in turbine blades. The results show that the leading tip, trailing tip, platform, and leading edge regions have higher thermal stresses. Coolants with higher temperature are less effective in cooling the blade, and the coolant temperature has a significant impact on the blade temperature.
