Potential optical molecular switch: Lithium@cyclo[18]carbon complex transforming between two stable configurations

Zeyu Liu et al.

Summary: Doping lithium atom in the C-18 carbon molecule can effectively regulate its optical properties, with the ability to control the state by switching the Li atom position through an external electric field. The two configurations of Li@C-18 exhibit distinct electronic structures and optical nonlinear properties, making transition easy to occur at ambient temperature.

Structure of cholinium glycinate biocompatible ionic liquid at graphite electrode interface

Aditya Gupta et al.

Summary: Constant potential molecular dynamics simulations were used to investigate the interfacial structure of the cholinium glycinate biocompatible ionic liquid between graphite electrodes. The density oscillations of cations and anions near the electrodes increase with applied potential differences, and cations tend to move closer to the negative electrode, forming hydrogen bonds with anions. The differential capacitance of the bio-IL suggests promising potential applications as battery electrolytes.

Investigating lithium intercalation and diffusion in Nb-doped TiO2 by first principles calculations

Szu-Nung Kao et al.

Summary: Recent research has shown a growing interest in developing titanium dioxide (TiO2) based anodes for lithium ion batteries due to their high theoretical specific capacity, safety, chemical stability, and abundance. Niobium-doped (Nb-doped) TiO2 anodes have been proposed and shown to improve cycling stability and performance in lithium ion batteries. The study used first principles calculations to reveal the mechanism behind the superior performance of Nb-doped TiO2 compared to pristine TiO2, showing improved lithium intercalation process and electronic conductivity.
