Yellow laccase produced by Trametes versicolor K1 on tomato waste: A comparative study with the blue one produced on semi-synthetic medium

Samah Chaoua et al.

Summary: This study found that Trametes versicolor K1 isolated from palm bark can produce a yellow non-glycosylated laccase and a blue glycosylated laccase in tomato waste and glucose medium, respectively. However, when using lignocellulosic biomass such as pinecones, palm leaves, olive pomace, and alfa stems as growth medium, the laccase production was very low or almost absent. Additionally, the laccase activity in TMT medium increased significantly when peptone was supplied and the culture volume was increased.

Effects of climatic conditions and hermetic storage on the growth of Aspergillus parasiticus and aflatoxin B1 contamination in basmati rice

Muhammad Asif Asghar et al.

Summary: Climate change has influenced the growth and production of aflatoxins by Aspergillus species. This study found that A. parasiticus can grow and produce aflatoxin B-1 in basmati rice under optimal temperature, moisture content, and water activity conditions. However, lower temperature, moisture content, and water activity do not support the growth of A. parasiticus and aflatoxin production. Storage of rice samples in a hermetic bag significantly reduces aflatoxin production. Overall, hermetic storage is proven to be the best way to store cereals and grains for a long time.
