A review on the preparation and application of BN composite coatings

Summary: This paper analyzes the mechanical, thermal, electrical and wetting properties of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), a functional ceramic material with excellent physical and chemical properties. However, the high melting point of h-BN poses challenges in preparing coating materials via traditional sintering process. Several processes for preparing h-BN composite coatings are summarized in this paper. The different forms of h-BN composite coatings are reviewed based on their characteristics, and the future application prospects of h-BN coatings are forecasted considering the existing problems.

Influence of sintering temperature on the crystallization and mechanical properties of BN-MAS composites

Summary: In this study, a boron nitride-magnesium aluminum silicate (BN-MAS) composite ceramics were fabricated using hot-press sintering at different temperatures. The relationship between sintering temperature and microstructure was investigated, showing that h-BN had a significant inhibitory effect on the crystallization of the MAS system at temperatures above 1400 degrees C. The composite sintered at 1700 degrees C exhibited the highest bending strength.

Promoting h-BN dispersion in cellulose-based composite by lignosulfonate for regulatable effectual thermal management

Texture and anisotropy of hot-pressed h-BN matrix composite ceramics with in situ formed YAG

Summary: In this study, textured hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) matrix composite ceramics were prepared using different contents of sintering additive. The addition of 3Y(2)O(3)-5Al(2)O(3) as sintering additive led to the in situ formation of YAG liquid phase, which showed good wettability to h-BN grains. The resulting composite ceramics exhibited anisotropic mechanical and thermal properties due to the oriented microstructure with the c-axis of h-BN grains parallel to the sintering pressure direction.

A novel type of composite LTCC material for high flexural strength application

Summary: The novel high flexural strength LTCC material, consisting of xAl(2)O(3)+ (1-x) BaO-Al2O3SiO2-B2O3-ZnO-CaO-MgO (x = 35-50 wt. %) glass-ceramics, was synthesized and discussed for its excellent thermal, mechanical, and microwave dielectric properties. The composites could be densely sintered at 950 degrees C/2 h, showing promising potential for various applications.

Effect of graphene addition on a borosilicate glass/alumina composite for LTCC technology

Microstructural evolution of h-BN matrix composite ceramics with La-Al-Si-O glass phase during hot-pressed sintering

Improvement in mechanical properties in AlN-h-BN composites with high thermal conductivity
