Lanthanide-uranyl phosphonates constructed from diethyl ((phenylsulfonyl)methyl)phosphonate

Xiaomin Hou et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that new uranyl and lanthanide-uranyl sulfonylphosphonates with elegant crystal structures can be assembled hydrothermally using heterofunctional diethyl phosphonate as a precursor ligand. This provides an effective strategy for the construction of lanthanide-uranyl phosphonates.

Turn-up Luminescent Sensing of Ultraviolet Radiation by Lanthanide Metal-Organic Frameworks

Sida Zhang et al.

Summary: A series of two-dimensional lanthanide metal-organic frameworks Ln-DBTPA (where DBTPA = 2,5-dibromoterephthalic acid and Ln = Tb (1), Eu (2), or Gd (3)) are reported to show a unique responsive behavior towards ultraviolet radiation. Luminescence enhancement is achieved through the accumulation of radicals that facilitate the intersystem crossing process. Compound 1 demonstrates an ultralow detection limit for UV radiation, making it a novel type of luminescent UV detector.

Dynamics of the Energy Transfer Process in Eu(III) Complexes Containing Polydentate Ligands Based on Pyridine, Quinoline, and Isoquinoline as Chromophoric Antennae

Albano N. Carneiro Neto et al.

Summary: In this study, we theoretically investigated the energy transfer process in 12 isomeric species originating from six different complexes. By calculating the relevant parameters, we determined the most efficient energy transfer processes and identified the factors influencing the energy transfer efficiency. Additionally, we compared the experimental measurements with the theoretical calculations.

Heterometallic Actinide-Containing Photoresponsive Metal-Organic Frameworks: Dynamic and Static Tuning of Electronic Properties

Corey R. Martin et al.

Summary: Acquiring fundamental knowledge of properties of actinide-based materials is crucial for addressing challenges in nuclear energy and waste sectors. In this study, a correlation between photophysics and electronics in actinide-containing metal-organic frameworks was established for the first time, allowing for dynamic modulation of electronic properties. The construction of a photochromic MOF-based field-effect transistor demonstrated the potential for light-induced changes in current, enabling the operation of a fail-safe indicator circuit.

J. Perego et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that composite materials based on fluorescent metal-organic framework (MOF) nanocrystals can function as fast scintillators, crucial for medical imaging technologies. By embedding MOF nanocrystals in a polymer, a prototype scintillator with ultrafast scintillation rise time of around 50 ps was successfully developed, supporting the development of new scintillators based on engineered fluorescent MOF nanocrystals.
