Coherent Spin Dynamics of Electrons in Two-Dimensional (PEA)2PbI4 Perovskites

Erik Kirstein et al.

Summary: This research investigates the coherent spin dynamics of Ruddlesden-Popper (PEA)2PbI4 perovskites through picosecond pump-probe Kerr rotation experiments in an external magnetic field. The study identifies the Larmor spin precession of resident electrons with a spin dephasing time of 190 ps, as well as a long longitudinal spin relaxation time of 25 μs in weak magnetic fields. A significant anisotropy of the electron g-factor is also found, with in-plane value of +2.45 and out-of-plane value of +2.05. Furthermore, the exciton out-of-plane g-factor is measured to be +1.6 using magneto-reflectivity. This work contributes to the understanding of the spin-dependent properties and spin dynamics of two-dimensional perovskites.

Elucidating Structure-Property Correlation in Perovskitoid and Antiperovskite Piperidinium Manganese Chloride

Debendra Prasad Panda et al.

Summary: Organic-inorganic hybrid (OIH) halide perovskite is a promising material in the field of semiconductors, and efforts have been made to design new lead-free OIH halides for optoelectronic applications. We have synthesized a perovskitoid compound and an antiperovskite compound with unique structures and properties. The perovskitoid compound displays switchable dielectric property, while the antiperovskite compound exhibits higher photoluminescence quantum yield and magnetic properties. This structure-property relationship in OIH manganese halides will contribute to the design of new perovskites and antiperovskites.

Zero-field quantum beats and spin decoherence mechanisms in CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals

Rui Cai et al.

Summary: Through the study of zero-field exciton quantum beating and anomalous temperature dependence in cesium lead bromide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) ensembles, we have uncovered the quantum transition and temperature dependence of exciton spin lifetimes. Quantum beating between exciton fine-structure splitting (FSS) levels allows for coherent ultrafast optical control of the excitonic degree of freedom. In addition, we have found that at temperatures close to room temperature, the depolarization of exciton spin is dominated by a motional narrowing process controlled by exciton multilevel coherence.

Temperature-Dependent Reversible Optical Properties of Mn-Based Organic-Inorganic Hybrid (C8H20N)(2)MnCl4 Metal Halides

Tong Chang et al.

Summary: In this study, zero-dimensional Mn-based organic-inorganic metal halides (OIMHs) were synthesized and found to exhibit intense green emission at 520 nm. The large organic cations in the crystal structure result in isolated [MnCl4]2- tetrahedrons, effectively inhibiting the migration of excitation energy between adjacent Mn2+ emission centers.

Electron-Phonon Coupling Suppression by Enhanced Lattice Rigidity in 2D Perovskite Single Crystals for High-Performance X-Ray Detection

Bobo Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel DJ-perovskitoid (DGA)PbI4 is designed by utilizing strong interactions between dimethylbiguanide (DGA) and PbI2, which exhibits better X-ray detection performance compared to other 2D PSCs. The improved performance is attributed to the minimized lattice distortion and increased hydrogen bonds, leading to enhanced lattice rigidity, weakened electron-phonon coupling, and suppressed disordered scattering of carriers. The (DGA)PbI4 devices achieve high carrier mobility (78.1 cm(2) V-1 s(-1)) and pronounced sensitivity (4869.0 mu C Gy(air)(-1)cm(-2)), making them the best 2D Pb-based PSC devices to date. They also demonstrate good spatial resolution in X-ray imaging and excellent long-term stability, showing promise for medical diagnostics and nondestructive determination.

Optical control of exciton spin dynamics in layered metal halide perovskites via polaronic state formation

Sean A. Bourelle et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of strong coupling on the spin relaxation of excitons in layered perovskite BA(2)FAPbI(7) and finds that optical control can increase the spin lifetime. This is attributed to the strong coupling between excitons and optically excited phonons. The findings highlight the special role of exciton-lattice interactions in the spin physics of layered perovskites and provide a novel opportunity for optical spin control.
