Prediction and Control in DNA Nanotechnology

Marcello DeLuca et al.

Summary: DNA nanotechnology is a rapidly developing field that utilizes DNA as a building material for nanoscale structures. This review discusses the prediction and control aspects of DNA nanotechnology, including molecular simulation, statistical mechanics, kinetic modeling, continuum mechanics, and other prediction methods. The current applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in DNA nanotechnology are also addressed. The combination of experiments and modeling allows for control over device behavior and the design of molecular structures and dynamic devices. Weak areas in prediction ability are identified, and possible solutions are suggested.

Nanoscale 3D spatial addressing and valence control of quantum dots using wireframe DNA origami

Chi Chen et al.

Summary: This study presents a general synthetic approach to control the 3D spatial relationships between quantum dots and other non-nucleic-acid molecules using highly programmable wireframe DNA origami structures. By understanding the relationship between chimeric single-stranded DNA length and quantum dot size, single quantum dots were integrated into DNA origami structures and arbitrary 3D spatial relationships between quantum dots and dyes were programmed. This approach enables the fabrication of hybrid materials for functional nanoscale photonic devices.

Chemically Fueled Self-Assembly in Biology and Chemistry

Krishnendu Das et al.

Summary: Life is a non-equilibrium state of matter sustained by energy expenditure, mostly utilizing chemical energy stored in molecules. Understanding the transfer of chemical energy to biochemical processes is crucial for developing artificial systems with life-like processes. Strategies for controlling the structural organization of organic molecules have been identified based on distinguishable physical-organic foundations, with examples from biology and chemistry illustrating their practical implementation and unique opportunities.
