Spectroscopic Properties of Inorganic Glasses Doped with Pr3+: A Comparative Study

Joanna Pisarska et al.

Summary: This study presents the results of visible and near-IR emission of Pr3+ ions in different inorganic glasses. The emission bands and their relative intensity ratios vary depending on the glass-host. The visible emission of Pr3+ ions can be tuned from red/orange to nearly white light by adjusting the glass composition. The positions and spectral linewidths of near-infrared luminescence bands also depend on the glass-host and excitation wavelengths. Fluoride glasses based on InF3 and gallo-germanate glasses with BaO/BaF2 are promising materials for broadband near-infrared optical amplifiers.

Influence of TiO2 concentration on near-infrared luminescence of Er3 thorn ions in barium gallo- germanate glasses

Karolina Kowalska et al.

Summary: The luminescence properties of erbium-doped barium gallo-germanate glasses modified by titanium dioxide for near-infrared luminescence applications were investigated. The 1.5 mm luminescence associated with the 4I13/2 / 4I15/2 transition of Er3+ ions was examined as a function of TiO2 concentration. Spectroscopic and near-infrared laser parameters were determined, including stimulated emission cross-section, luminescence bandwidth, lifetime, quantum efficiency, gain bandwidth, and figure of merit. The results indicate that Er-doped glasses with a molar ratio of GeO2:TiO2 of 1:2 exhibit excellent luminescence properties and can be applied to near-infrared broadband optical amplifiers successfully.

Excitation dependent tunable emission colour of Eu3+-Tb3+ co-doped titanium zinc sodium phosphate glass

Ashoke Maity et al.

Summary: The optical and structural properties of glass co-doped with different percentages of Eu2O3, Tb2O3, TiO2, ZnO, Na2O, and P2O5 have been investigated. The study includes analysis of XRD, FTIR spectra, absorption, excitation, emission, decay, and CIE coordinates. The glass shows luminescence emission transitions of Tb3+ and Eu3+ upon excitation at 341 nm, indicating energy transfer from Tb3+ to Eu3+ through non-radiative relaxation process. The emission color can be tuned by varying the excitation wavelength, making the glass suitable for applications in WLED, display devices, and photonics.

Structural investigation of SrO-BaO-TiO2-B2O3-P2O5 glass-ceramics

E. Haily et al.

Summary: In this study, glasses in the system xSrO-(20-x)BaO-10TiO(2)-30B(2)O(3)-40P(2)O(5) were synthesized by the melt-quenching method and developed into glass-ceramics through controlled crystallization. Substituting BaO with SrO was found to open the glass structure, leading to crystallization of MTi(PO4)(2) (M = Ba, Sr) and BPO4 phases in the glass-ceramics, which mainly consisted of isolated PO4 and TiO6 units.
