Study of the magnetic properties of Mg, Gd, and Co doped maghemite (?-Fe2O3) nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel

Majdi Benamara et al.

Summary: In this study, gamma-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel method and doped with Magnesium (Mg), Gadolinium (Gd), and Cobalt (Co) oxides to enhance their magnetic properties. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that all samples had a cubic crystal structure with P4332 space group. TEM investigations revealed that the average nanoparticle sizes ranged from 15 to 23 nm for both pure and doped samples. The measurements of magnetization as a function of temperature and magnetic field demonstrated that the highest magnetization (MH) of the nanoparticles increased with increasing concentrations of Mg, Gd, and Co. Moreover, cobalt doping increased the magnetic coercivity by increasing the values of coercivity field (Hc) and remanence magnetisation (Mr), which could be utilized in magnetic recording devices.

On-Site Detection of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

Ruben Epping et al.

Summary: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are of interest in various fields including food and fragrance analysis, environmental research, industrial applications, and medical and life science. Traditional methods for VOC analysis, such as gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS), are slow, expensive, and demanding on the user. In this overview, we discuss the working principles of different technologies for on-site VOC analysis and compare their advantages and limitations. We also provide an outlook on the future progression of this research field.

Chemiresistive Sensor Arrays for Gas/Volatile Organic Compounds Monitoring: A Review

Ronil J. J. Rath et al.

Summary: Gas detection and monitoring are important for human health and the environment. Chemiresistive sensors are commonly used for gas monitoring due to their ease of fabrication and fast response time. However, they may not be able to differentiate between similar gases. Sensor arrays have been developed to address this limitation, allowing for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of multiple cross-reactive gases.

K. Iben Nassar et al.

Summary: In this study, the double perovskite oxide LBAFMO was prepared using the sol-gel-based Pechini method, and its electrical properties were studied through impedance spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis. The results showed that LBAFMO exhibited non-Debye model relaxation, with complex impedance indicating contributions from grain and grain boundaries, and AC conductivity following Jonscher's law.

Electrical and Magnetic Studies of Maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) Prepared by the Sol-Gel Route

M. Benamara et al.

Summary: Maghemite (gamma-Fe2O3) nanopowder was prepared by the sol-gel method. The microstructural and morphological properties of the prepared sample were studied, and the electrical investigation and magnetization measurements were performed. The characterization results showed that the sample had a crystallite size of 8 nm and spherical nanoparticles with high porosity. The electrical conductivity followed Jonscher's law and was influenced by the presence of grains and grain boundaries. The dielectric behavior was correlated with polarization effects and showed low dielectric loss. The saturation magnetization exhibited high values at both room temperature and low temperature.

Electrical transport of Mg-doped maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles

Majdi Benamara et al.

Summary: Maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) and Mg-doped γ-Fe2O3 nanopowders were synthesized using the sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the crystallinity of the samples, which exhibited a cubic structure and crystallite sizes ranging from 10 to 16 nm. Impedance spectroscopy revealed the electrical conductivity and charge carrier displacement patterns, indicating the presence of interstitial defects and vacancies. The dielectric behavior was attributed to the space-charge polarization phenomenon.

Georgi N. Vayssilov et al.

Summary: This research investigated the acidity of Bronsted acid sites (BAS) and silanols in zeolite nanoparticles. It was found that the acidity of hydroxyls in zeolites is significantly higher than in the gas phase. However, the acidity of hydroxyls cannot be estimated based on the spectral characteristics.
