Molten Na reduced T-Nb2O5 nanorods enable enhanced Na-storage performance

Jizhong Miao et al.

Summary: Abundant oxygen vacancies are generated on the surface of T-Nb2O5 nanorods through a molten Na reduction method. This method enhances sodium storage capacity, rate performance, and cycle stability due to expanded interplanar space, increased electronic conductivity, and boosted ion diffusion kinetics. The optimized T-Nb2O5 nanorods electrode exhibits superior performance in terms of capacity and cycle stability compared to pristine samples and conventional H2 reduced samples. This work proposes a new and effective method for modulating oxygen vacancies and emphasizes their importance in metal oxide electrode materials for high-performance sodium-ion batteries.

Plasmonic Au-Ru-CeO2 Aerogel Photocatalysts for Nonoxidative Methane Coupling Reaction

Muchen Wu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a series of Au-Ru-CeO2 aerogel-based photocatalysts were constructed for nonoxidative methane coupling reaction. Au nanoparticles were incorporated into the CeO2 aerogel framework using a modified epoxide-adding method, resulting in significantly enhanced photoactivity. The addition of an appropriate amount of Ru further improved the activity, with an optimized Au-to-Ru ratio of 10:1 achieving the highest C2H6 yield rate of 7.09 and 1.55 μmol/g/h under full-spectrum light and visible light, respectively.

Oxygen defect functionalized cobalt oxide towards high-efficient reaction with OH- for aqueous energy storage devices

Jiazhuo Li et al.

Summary: The development of modern renewable energy resources has become increasingly important due to the growing environmental contamination and energy crisis. The latest generation of aqueous energy storage devices has attracted attention for their excellent performance, high safety, and environmental friendliness. In this study, high-performance binder-free hierarchical defect-Co3O4 nanosheets were designed and grown on Ni foam. By using NaBH4 as a reductant, the hierarchical structure composed of ultrafine nanoparticles with oxygen defects showed superior performance due to efficient reaction with OH·-. The electrochemical properties of the resulting Co3O4@Ni for supercapacitors and alkaline Zn-Co batteries were investigated, showing remarkable energy density and cycling stability.

Template-Free Synthesis of Zinc Cobalt Oxides/Phosphides (Co2P/CoO/ZnCo2O4) Hollow Sub-Micron Boxes as Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Catalysts

Chunlei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a template-free synthesis of zinc cobalt oxides/phosphides hollow sub-micron boxes as electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction. The selective etching induced by cation exchange plays a key role in forming the hollow structure, while the addition of zinc enhances the intrinsic activity of the catalysts. The optimized ZnCo-OP hollow sub-micron box exhibits good hydrogen evolution reaction activity with low overpotentials.
