3D simulations for evaluation of location factors in an urban environment: application of a novel methodology to calculate external exposure doses for evacuees from Pripyat

Konstantin Chizhov et al.

Summary: This study presents a methodology for assessing radiation doses in an urban environment due to external irradiation and passing radioactive clouds. It was applied to assess individual doses of Pripyat residents after the Chernobyl accident. The study found that indoor location factors varied significantly based on residence floor and location within the apartment, and both outdoor and indoor factors decreased with decreasing building distances.
