Ultrasensitive immunosensor for monitoring of CA 19-9 pancreatic cancer marker using electrolyte-gated TiS3 nanoribbons field-effect transistor

Hedyeh Rahmani et al.

Summary: Measuring CA 19-9 antigen level plays a critical role in early diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and disease recurrence prediction of pancreatic cancer. This research assesses the application of few-layered TiS3 nanoribbons as a channel material in an immunosensor for rapid detection of CA 19-9 antigen. The results show the potential of the developed immunosensor for cancer diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring.

Application of thermal annealing-assisted gold nanoparticles for ultrasensitive diagnosis of pancreatic cancer using localized surface plasmon resonance

Maryam Sharifi et al.

Summary: Due to the poor prognosis of pancreatic cancer, early detection tests are essential. This study developed a biosensor based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) for early-stage detection of CA-19-9, a biomarker for pancreatic cancer. The biosensor showed high sensitivity and accuracy in detecting CA-19-9.

Curative Effects of Copper Iodide Embedded on Gallic Acid Incorporated in a Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) Liquid Bandage

Putita Phetcharat et al.

Summary: In daily life, minor cuts are common and if not properly healed, can lead to infections. Liquid bandages are a convenient method to stop bleeding for superficial wounds. This study developed a liquid bandage incorporating copper iodide nanoparticles to promote wound restoration and fight bacterial infections. The liquid bandage was tested and found to effectively kill bacteria without harming human fibroblast cells.

Effect of organo-selenium anticancer drugs on nitrite induced methemoglobinemia: A spectroscopic study

Debashree Das et al.

Summary: This study compared the interaction of organo-selenium drugs with hemoglobin and heme moiety using different spectroscopic techniques, revealing that these drugs have similar binding affinity towards hemoglobin but differential interactions with the heme group. Among the drugs tested, selenourea showed the lowest binding affinity towards HbA, while methylseleninic acid was found to have detrimental effects on nitrite-induced methemoglobinemia. Further optimization is required before the actual use of these drugs in cancer treatment.

Summary: The methodology presented in this work is a result of interactions between junior and senior XPS users within the CasaXPS framework, particularly through workshops organized by IMN. The discussions from these workshops have been instrumental in developing the XPS data processing concept and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in surface analysis problem-solving. This methodology has evolved over subsequent workshops and now represents the philosophy used in CasaXPS spectral data processing paradigm.
