Spin transport properties of BixY3-xFe(5)O(12) thin films prepared by spin coating

Tian Ying-Yi et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of BixY3-xFe5O12 films with different doping ratios were prepared by spin coating, and the effects of Bi3+ on the morphology, structure and spin transport properties of YIG films were investigated. The results showed that Bi doping does not change the crystal structure of YIG, but increases the absorption and decreases the bandgap of the films. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the coexistence of Bi3+ and Bi2+. The regulation of Bi doping on spin transport was reflected in the significantly smaller magnon diffusion length of BixY3-xFe5O12 films compared to pure YIG films. Meanwhile, it was found that noticeable spin Hall magnetoresistance can still be detected in the Pt/BixY3-xFe5O12 heterostructure, and the highest amplitude was observed when x = 0.3.

Significant Role of Interfacial Spin-Orbit Coupling in the Spin-to-Charge Conversion in Pt/NiFe Heterostructure

Runrun Hao et al.

Summary: In this study, the significant role of interfacial spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in spin-to-charge conversion (SCC) process in Pt/NiFe heterostructure was investigated. The spin-pumping experiment showed that the spin-pumping signal decreased when the magnetization of NiFe switched from the saturated state to the unsaturated state. Theoretical analysis revealed that the interfacial spin absorption was enhanced during this magnetization change, resulting in the changes of spin flow in the Pt layer and across the Pt/NiFe interface. These findings highlight the importance of interfacial SOC in SCC process in HM/FM heterostructures.

Evolutionary mechanism of YBO3 whisker and its effect on the properties of YIG ferrite joint brazed by Bi2O3-B2O3-SiO2-ZnO glass

Jiujie Xu et al.

Summary: The Bi2O3-B2O3-SiO2-ZnO glass braze was effective in bonding Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) ferrite, showing nearly defect-free joints. Gray YBO3 whiskers, layered YBO3, and black block Fe2O3 phases were observed at the YIG/glass interface due to the reaction between the glass braze and YIG ferrite.

Enhancement of YIG |Pt spin conductance by local Joule annealing

R. Kohno et al.

Summary: Joule heating can enhance the interfacial spin conductivity between a metal and an oxide by locally annealing the interface and injecting large current densities. The improved spin transmission factor of up to 3 has important implications for interfacing ultrathin garnet films with metals to prevent strong chemical etching. This effect is confirmed through spin Hall magnetoresistance, spin pumping, and non-local spin transport methods.

Enhanced electrical and ferrimagnetic properties of bismuth substituted yttrium iron garnets

A. Raja et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized bismuth-substituted Y3-xBixFe5O12 (0 < x < 1.0) powders using sol-gel auto-combustion method, and systematically investigated their structural, morphological, electrical, and magnetic properties. Bismuth substitution significantly enhanced the magnetic and electrical properties of YIG, making it a potential candidate for microwave and magnetic-optical applications.
