Effect of growth temperature on the morphology control and optical behavior of monolayer MoS2 on SiO2 substrate

Krishnamoorthy Ponnusamy et al.

Summary: The shape evolution of monolayer-thick MoS2 grown by CVD on SiO2/Si substrate is influenced by temperature, with different temperatures resulting in different grain shapes. Circular MoS2 grains, formed at a growth temperature of 775 degrees C, exhibit strong photoluminescence compared to other shapes. Continuous monolayer MoS2 can be formed by prolonging the growth duration.

Modulation of the Reaction Mechanism via S/Mo: A Rational Strategy for Large-Area MoS2 Growth

Jiangang Xu et al.

Summary: This study presents a new strategy for regulating the reaction mechanism of CVD-grown 2D MoS2 crystals by modulating the sulfur and molybdenum precursor concentration ratio. It was found that there is an optimal S/Mo ratio that favors the heterogeneous reaction, leading to high-quality MoS2 crystal growth. These findings provide important insights into the rational process design for 2D MoS2 growth and could serve as a reference for the growth of other high-quality TMD materials.

Precursor Concentration Ratio: The Key to Controllable Lateral-to-Standing MoO2 Flake Transition

Jiangang Xu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method for tuning the orientation of MoO2 crystals grown via chemical vapor deposition by controlling the concentration ratio of S and Mo precursors (S/Mo). It was found that a low S/Mo ratio favors the growth of lateral MoO2 flakes, while a high S/Mo ratio favors standing MoO2 flakes. The results show that this S/Mo-mediated orientation transition is widely applicable to different substrates and growth temperatures.

Chemical vapor deposition of clean and pure MoS2 crystals by the inhibition of MoO3-x intermediates

Ran Guan et al.

Summary: By rationally designing the heating evaporation rates of sulfur and MoO3 precursors in a CVD system, the intermediate product of MoO3-x in MoS2-MoO3-x hybrids can be largely inhibited. The appropriate ratio of sulfur sublimation versus evaporated MoO3 powder is revealed as the key factor for inhibiting intermediates and obtaining high-quality MoS2 crystals.
