Magneto-Raman Study of Magnon-Phonon Coupling in Two-Dimensional Ising Antiferromagnetic FePS3

Yu-Jia Sun et al.

Summary: By utilizing near-resonant magneto-Raman spectroscopy, the magnon-phonon coupling in FePS3 is investigated under a relatively small magnetic field. The results show the coupling effects between magnons and phonons, including frequency anti-crossing coupling and polarization transferring between coupled modes.

Experimental demonstration of skyrmionic magnetic tunnel junction at room temperature

Sai Li et al.

Summary: This study reports the direct observation of nanoscale skyrmions in CoFeB/MgO-based magnetic tunnel junction devices at room temperature and achieves their electrical detection. The formation of skyrmions is stabilized by the cooperation of interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, and dipolar stray field. The skyrmionic magnetic tunnel junction exhibits stable nonlinear multilevel resistance, providing important perspectives for high-density memory and neuromorphic computing in spintronics.

Terahertz Magnetic and Lattice Excitations in van der Waals Ferromagnet VI3

David Hovancik et al.

Summary: We used infrared, terahertz, and Raman spectroscopies in combination with DFT calculations to investigate the magnetic and lattice properties of VI3. Our results show that VI3 exhibits ferromagnetic behavior at low temperatures, indicating its potential application in ultrafast THz spintronics as a 2D van der Waals ferromagnet.

Control of the Bose-Einstein Condensation of Magnons by the Spin Hall Effect

Michael Schneider et al.

Summary: Injecting or annihilating magnons through the spin Hall effect can prevent or promote the formation of a rapid cooling-induced magnon Bose-Einstein condensate. This provides a new method for controlling macroscopic quantum states.

Graphene overcoats for ultra-high storage density magnetic media

N. Dwivedi et al.

Summary: Graphene-based overcoats can overcome the limitations of current technology in hard disk drives, reducing friction and providing better corrosion and wear resistance, while also withstanding HAMR conditions. By utilizing suitable recording technologies such as HAMR and HAMR+bit patterned media, graphene overcoats are expected to enable the development of HDDs with areal densities of 4-10 Tb/in(2).

Direct Observation of Magnon-Phonon Strong Coupling in Two-Dimensional Antiferromagnet at High Magnetic Fields

Sheng Liu et al.

Summary: In FePS3, strong coupling between magnons and phonons was directly observed using magneto-Raman spectroscopy at magnetic fields up to 30 Tesla. A hybridized magnon-phonon quasiparticle formed due to field-driven resonance with a nearby phonon mode. The polarized Raman results demonstrated the transfer of spin angular momentum from magnons to phonons, generating phonon spin through strong coupling.

Measuring bulk and surface acoustic modes in diamond by angle-resolved Brillouin spectroscopy

YaRu Xie et al.

Summary: The acoustic modes of diamond, including bulk acoustic waves (BAWs) and surface acoustic waves (SAWs), were studied using angle-resolved Brillouin light scattering (BLS) spectroscopy. Two high-speed surface skimming bulk waves (SSBW) were identified with acoustic velocities of 1.277x10(6) and 1.727x10(6) cm/s. The relationship between the velocity of arbitrary BAWs and that of BAWs propagating along the high-symmetric axis at different incident angles was obtained. These results may provide a valuable reference for fundamental research and device engineering in the diamond-based acoustic studies community.
