Recent progress of crystal orientation engineering in halide perovskite photovoltaics

Bo Li et al.

Summary: Controlling the crystallographic orientation of semiconductor crystals is crucial for adjusting their facet-dependent properties. Preferential crystal orientation in perovskite thin films improves their optoelectronic properties and enhances the efficiency of perovskite solar cells. However, the impact of crystallographic orientation on the photovoltaic performance of perovskite thin films in PSCs is not well understood.

Crystallization Process for High-Quality Cs0.15FA0.85PbI2.85Br0.15 Film Deposited via Simplified Sequential Vacuum Evaporation

Jin Yan et al.

Summary: Multiple-source thermal evaporation is an excellent technique for obtaining perovskite materials for solar cell applications. A simplified approach called single-cycle deposition (SCD) was proposed to obtain high-quality Cs(0.15)FA(0.85)PbI(2.85)Br(0.15) films. The optimized PVK film showed comparable properties to the one deposited by multicycle deposition. The formation and evolution of SCD PVK during annealing were also investigated.

Sequential vacuum-evaporated perovskite solar cells with more than 24% efficiency

Hang Li et al.

Summary: Vacuum evaporation is a promising method for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells, with the advantages of precise film thickness control and compatibility with large-scale production. A Cl-containing alloy-mediated sequential vacuum evaporation approach was developed to fabricate perovskite films with high uniformity and few defects, resulting in high power conversion efficiency. The method provides a reproducible approach for scalable fabrication of large-area, high-efficiency perovskite solar cells and other perovskite-based optoelectronics.

Orientation Control of 2D Perovskite in 2D/3D Heterostructure by Templated Growth on 3D Perovskite

Genya Uzurano et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a universal strategy to improve the stability of perovskite solar cells by controlling the orientation of 2D perovskite on 3D perovskite, overcoming the trade-off between stability and PCE in 2D/3D heterostructure. The orientation angle of 2D perovskite strongly depends on the predominant crystal orientation of the 3D perovskite template.
