Lewis-Pairing-Induced Electrochemiluminescence Enhancement from Electron Donor-Acceptor Diads Decorated with Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane as an Electrochemical Protector

Takashi Ikeda et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for stabilizing electrogenerated radical ions by effectively decorating organic donor-acceptor diads with B(C6F5)(3). By employing the p-type organic semiconductor benzothienobenzothiophene (BTBT) as the donor, tetracoordinate boron complexes show improved solution electrochemiluminescence (ECL) intensity. The Lewis-pairing-induced ECL enhancement is attributed to the multiple roles of B(C6F5)(3) in redistributing frontier orbitals, facilitating electrochemical excitation, and restricting molecular motions.

Development of a facile time-resolved spectroelectrochemical method: An application to determine the rate constant of protonation for anions of 9,10-diphenylanthracene, biphenyl, and p-quaterphenyl

Ryoichi Ishimatsu et al.

Summary: A simple spectroelectrochemical method was developed to determine the rate constant of protonation reaction for several reduced species. The method utilized a three-electrode system and an electrochemical cell, and measured the absorbance change and calculated the molar extinction coefficient to determine the rate constant.

Versatile electrochemiluminescent organic emitters

Andrea Fiorani et al.

Summary: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were the first molecules investigated in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) studies, but the focus shifted to soluble inorganic complexes when analytical applications moved from organic solvents to water-based solutions. However, recent advancements in synthetic procedures and concepts have revived the investigation of organic molecules. Polymeric nanoparticles and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) have sparked renewed interest in organic emitters.

Dynamics of Anthracene Excimer Formation within a Water-Soluble Nanocavity at Room Temperature

Aritra Das et al.

Summary: Excited anthracene forms supramolecular host-guest complexes with octa acid in aqueous medium, with the 2:2 complex showing intense excimer emission and the 2:1 complex exhibiting only monomer emission. The behavior of anthracene molecules in the excited state is influenced by the host-guest structure and is time-dependent, indicating a change in molecule behavior under confinement.
