Selective chromogenic and fluorogenic signalling of Hg2+ ions using a benzothiazole-quinolinyl acrylate conjugate and its applications in the environmental water samples and living cells

Leyana K. Shaji et al.

Summary: We have developed a new chemosensor L based on benzothiazole conjugated with quinolinyl acrylate for the selective and sensitive detection of Hg2+ ions. The sensor shows minimal interference from other ions and can work in a wide pH range. The applicability of probe L in detecting Hg2+ in water and biological samples has been demonstrated.
