Novel ferrocenyl-containing benzothiazole derivatives were synthesized in moderate yields by one-pot alpha-amidoalkylation of ferrocene. The obtained compounds were further oxidized to known fully aromatic 2-ferrocenylbenzothiazole in high yield, offering a convenient alternative to previous methods.
Novel ferrocenyl-containing benzothiazole derivatives were synthesised in moderate yields (49-66 %) by one-pot alpha-amidoalkylation of ferrocene. The reaction conditions were critically evaluated and the crystal structure of one of the amidoalkylated ferrocenes was resolved. Oxidation of the obtained compounds led to known fully aromatic 2-ferrocenylbenzothiazole in 81 % yield, which represents a convenient alternative to earlier methods utilizing cyclocondensation reactions.
