An immune score reflecting pro- and anti-tumoural balance of tumour microenvironment has major prognostic impact and predicts immunotherapy response in solid cancers

Artur Mezheyeuski et al.

Summary: We evaluated 15 immune cell classes in 1481 tumor samples and generated an immune activation signature (SIA) based on the prognostic information of CD8+ lymphocytes and CD68+CD163+ macrophages in various cancer types. The SIA was associated with patient survival and had predictive value for response to checkpoint inhibitor therapy.

Oral brush biopsy using liquid-based cytology is a reliable tool for oral cancer screening: A cost-utility analysis

Majdy Idrees et al.

Summary: This study assessed the diagnostic utility and cost-effectiveness of oral liquid-based brush cytology (OLBC) in the diagnosis of oral cancer and OPMDs. The results showed a high level of agreement between OLBC and histopathological outcomes. Jose M. Aguirre-Urizar et al.

Summary: The malignant transformation rate of oral leukoplakia (OL) is 9.8%, with female gender, non-homogeneous clinical type, and presence of epithelial dysplasia significantly associated with malignant transformation. Further well-designed prospective studies are needed to reduce bias when evaluating factors associated with malignant transformation.
