Radiation vulnerability of standard and radiation-hardened optical glasses at MGy dose: Towards the design of tolerant optical systems

T. Allanche et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of standard and radiation-hardened glasses, finding that using radiation-hardened glasses has almost no advantage at doses below 1 kGy(SiO2), and some standard glasses have sufficient radiation tolerance in terms of RIA, making them promising alternatives.

First principle studies on properties of silicon-vacancy related defects in amorphous silica

Summary: The non-bridging oxygen hole center (NBOHC) can decrease the transmission efficiency of amorphous silica material and can be produced by both electronic and nuclear energy loss processes. Silicon vacancy defects have two stable configurations, resulting in direct and indirect channels for NBOHC formation.

Modified Stoney formula for determining stress within thin films on large-deformation isotropic circular plates

Haijun Liu et al.

Summary: A modified Stoney formula is proposed in this study to accurately calculate residual stress in films under large deformations. The formula uses an exponential decay function to relate substrate curvature to stress in the film, and can be applied to isotropic circular plates of various dimensions and materials.
