A data-driven disease progression model of fluid biomarkers in genetic frontotemporal dementia

Emma L. van der Ende et al.

Summary: This study aimed to model the sequence of biomarker abnormalities in genetic frontotemporal dementia and determine the disease stages of patients. The results showed that NPTX2 and neurofilament light chain were the earliest biomarkers to change. This model could help select suitable patients for pharmaceutical trials and improve patient stratification and tracking of therapeutic interventions.

Clustering and switching in verbal fluency: a comparison between control and individuals with brain damage

Karina Carlesso Pagliarin et al.

Summary: The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the performance and strategies used by control subjects and patients with unilateral brain damage on phonemic and semantic Verbal Fluency tasks. The results showed that patients in the LHDa group had the worst performance in both types of fluency tasks, while the RHD group had fewer switching productions and the LHDna group had fewer words productions compared to the control group.

Brain volumetric deficits in MAPT mutation carriers: a multisite study

Stephanie A. Chu et al.

Summary: This study found that a subset of presymptomatic MAPT mutation carriers exhibited low volumes in the mesial temporal lobe, a region commonly atrophied in all symptomatic carriers. With increasing age, a higher percentage of presymptomatic carriers showed low mesial temporal volume, suggesting early neurodegeneration.
