Facile NMR approach for profiling curcuminoids present in turmeric

Aishwarya Praveen et al.

Summary: A new method based on H-1 NMR for analyzing curcuminoids was proposed and successfully applied to different geographical regions. The results showed that curcumin was the major compound among all varieties, supported by further analysis with HPLC.

Metabolic fingerprinting for discrimination of DNA-authenticated Atractylodes plants using 1H NMR spectroscopy

Tatsuya Shirahata et al.

Summary: In this study, H-1 NMR metabolic profiling was used to identify different species of the genus Atractylodes, and a hybrid DNA sequence was found in a portion of A. lancea cultivated in Japan. The chemometric analysis using CDCl3 extracts allowed for the identification and classification of Atractylodes species based on their major sesquiterpene compounds, while the removal of confounding sugar peaks in CD3OD extracts led to species distinction.
