Cyclohexane and benzene separation by fixed-bed adsorption on activated carbons prepared from coconut shell

Aniyohana Valencia et al.

Summary: New activated carbons were prepared from coconut shell to separate benzene and cyclohexane. The best preparation conditions were identified using a Taguchi experimental design. The activating agent, impregnation ratio, and physical activation time were found to be the most important variables. The activated carbon obtained with ZnCl2 showed the highest adsorption properties for benzene and cyclohexane separation at an industrial level.

First-principles DFT insights into the adsorption of hydrazine on bimetallic β1-NiZn catalyst: Implications for direct hydrazine fuel cells

Russell W. Cross et al.

Summary: A systematic study on the hydrazine adsorption mechanism on beta-NiZn alloy surfaces was conducted using DFT-D3, revealing that alloying enhances the activity towards adsorption and activation of hydrazine at active sites. The observed synergistic effects from surface composition and electronic structure modification provide new possibilities for the design and development of low-cost DHFC catalysts.

Summary: The research found that NW-1(+) can inhibit the hydration expansion of montmorillonite, mainly by adsorbing on MMT particles through electrostatic interactions, with a greater impact on the Na-001 and internal surfaces, while on the None-001 surface it acts through the combined action of hydrogen bonding and electrostatic attraction.

Dyes adsorption from aqueous media through the nanotechnology: A review

Christian Osagie et al.

Summary: Based on the review, activated carbon and polymer-based nanomaterial are the best adsorbents for removing dyes from aqueous media. Additionally, nano composite alpha-Fe2O3/graphene oxide and PAN-polyamidoamine nanoparticles show high adsorption capacities for dyes. Thermodynamic parameters varied widely across different studies, with adsorbent nature being a key factor. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models, as well as pseudo-second order kinetic model, were found to be suitable for dye uptake.
