Time-dependent dual effect of NLRP3 inflammasome in brain ischaemia

Alejandra Palomino-Antolin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role and mechanism of NLRP3 inflammasome in ischemic stroke. The findings suggest that post-reperfusion inhibition of NLRP3 may be an effective therapy for protecting the blood-brain barrier and improving neuro-motor function in cerebral ischemia.

Ghrelin reduces cerebral ischemic injury in rats by reducing M1 microglia/macrophages

Rong Tian et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Ghrelin on the polarization of microglia/macrophages after cerebral ischemia (CI) in rats. The results showed that Ghrelin treatment could significantly improve the neurological function of rats, reduce cerebral infarction area, and decrease inflammation and cell apoptosis. The mechanism of Ghrelin's action may be related to the activation of AKT and selective inhibition of M1 microglia/macrophages.

Isoflurane Attenuates Cerebral Ischaemia-Reperfusion Injury via the TLR4-NLRP3 Signalling Pathway in Diabetic Mice

Ya-Jun Zhang et al.

Summary: Ischaemic stroke and diabetes are conditions that can result in severe brain damage. This study found that the use of isoflurane as an anaesthetic drug may have neuroprotective effects in diabetic patients by reducing neuroinflammation and excessive autophagy.

Isoflurane post-conditioning contributes to anti-apoptotic effect after cerebral ischaemia in rats through the ERK5/MEF2D signaling pathway

Qingtong Zhang et al.

Summary: MEF2D is involved in neuroprotection after cerebral ischaemia/reperfusion injury, and post-conditioning with ISO promotes ERK5 phosphorylation, enhances MEF2D transcriptional activity, inhibits caspase-3 expression, and plays a role in brain protection.

Ge Mingyue et al.

Summary: The experiment showed that 1.5% isoflurane postconditioning has a neuroprotective effect on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats, and its mechanism involves the activation of the BMP7/Smad1/5/9 and p38MAPK signaling pathways.

Dexmedetomidine and Netrin-1 Combination Therapy Inhibits Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress by Regulating the ERK5/MEF2A Pathway to Attenuate Cerebral Ischemia Injury

Jiang-Wen Yin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effect of combination therapy with dexmedetomidine and Netrin-1 against ischemic brain injury, finding that the combination therapy can reduce infarct volume and neural damage, decrease apoptosis, and improve OPS recovery rate. The combination therapy also lowers the expression of GRP78 and CHOP, increases MEF2A expression, and promotes ERK5 phosphorylation.

Cheng-Tien Wu et al.

Summary: This study found that both ICA and ICT have neuroprotective effects in acute cerebral ischemic stroke mice, with ICT showing slightly better results than ICA. Moderate-intensity exercise alleviates pyroptosis by promoting autophagy in osteoarthritis via the P2X7/AMPK/mTOR axis

Zihao Li et al.

Summary: Reasonable exercise can enhance knee joint stability, prevent and relieve osteoarthritis. P2X7, a key switch for inflammation, can be regulated by exercise to reduce inflammation and promote chondrocyte autophagy, thereby alleviating cell death and cartilage destruction associated with pyroptosis and delaying osteoarthritis progression.

Summary: Acute ethanol intoxication exacerbates lung injury caused by sepsis through increasing pulmonary vascular permeability, neutrophil infiltration, release of inflammatory factors, and cell apoptosis. The SphK1/S1P/S1PR1 signaling pathway is involved in this process, and its specific inhibitor PF-543 can partially reverse lung injury.
