Cuspareine as alkaloid against COVID-19 designed with ionic liquids: DFT and docking molecular approaches

Nosrat Madadi Mahani et al.

Summary: Cuspareine, an antiviral alkaloid, has potential application in the treatment of COVID-19. This study investigated the use of ionic liquids (ILs) containing cuspareinium as a cation and CH3COO-, CF3COO-, and PF6 as anions. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations and molecular docking studies were performed to evaluate the thermodynamic parameters, reactivity descriptors, and binding energy of the designed ILs. The results suggest that CH3COO- IL has the highest solubility and binding energy, making it a promising candidate for further pharmaceutical and biological research related to cuspareine as an antiviral agent against COVID-19.

Anirudh Pratap Singh Raman et al.

Summary: In this study, DFT calculations were used to investigate the stability and thermodynamic parameters of eutectic mixtures (EMs) designed using OZD and ZnCl2. The results showed that the stability and thermodynamic parameters of the various systems did not vary significantly with temperature. Additionally, a structure-activity relationship method was employed to predict the physico-chemical properties of the designed EMs, and the validity of the obtained equation was confirmed.
